We eventually got into the Budawangs to survey for Fishman. And there, I produced a self portrait. For me, this portrait is about the body. It is about:- disappearances, being overcome by force, being an accomplice to loss. It is about falling out of prejudice. It is about exotic surrender to an aboriginal bush.

The eloquence of the Fishman image resides in its human resemblance. In a formal visual way, it engages us as human beings in the well-being of our wild rivers and forests. On reflection, it is difficult to avoid political action. A journey into wilderness is a journey from which one never recovers.
